A deep navy ground with cabled gold verticals — fine yarn-dyed cloth with each "stripe" a tiny twisted cable rather than a flat warp line, the kind of suiting cloth a pinstripe wishes it were. Heritage tailoring, redirected to a chest. As an H Harness in the Alpha 30 Archive.

Yarn-dyed woven cloth in deep navy with fine cabled white-gold vertical stripes — pinstripe, but with a twist. Each cream-to-silver vertical is a slim twisted or cabled motif rather than a flat warp stripe, raised slightly proud of the ground so the stripe is felt under a fingertip as well as seen. The cloth carries the language of a fine worsted suiting — Savile Row's quieter cousin — and the cabled-stripe detail is the kind of small fancy that marks a very good tailoring cloth from a merely competent one. The H silhouette frames the verticals symmetrically: from across a room the cloth reads as near-black, near-architectural; up close, the cabled stripes resolve as the cloth's whole argument. Navy stitching anchors the silhouette. Sourced via Dalston Mill Fabrics in Hackney, who listed the cloth as deadstock from Vanners of Sudbury, Suffolk — the heritage British silk weaver that entered administration in November 2020. The strongest scarcity claim in the Alpha 30 Archive sits on this collection: the cloth is terminal, no more being made anywhere.
