A fine silk twill in near-white silver-cream, patterned with charcoal queen-bee motifs in a regular foulard offset grid — the same micro-repeat rhythm that gives club ties and pocket squares their tie-cloth signature. Each bee resolves on close inspection as a stylised queen: opened wings forming a heart-shape silhouette, a small striped body below, the suggestion of a marker at the wing-junction (the queen detail). Lightweight, fluid; the silk drapes close to the body. The X silhouette catches the foulard grid on the diagonal across the chest — the offset rows of bees carrying the diagonal rhythm rather than fighting it. White stitching keeps the lines clean. Sourced via Dalston Mill Fabrics in Hackney, who listed the cloth as deadstock from Vanners of Sudbury, Suffolk — the heritage British silk weaver that entered administration in November 2020. The silk is terminal: no more is being made anywhere. The strongest scarcity claim in the entire archive sits on this piece. The queen-bee motif is loaded — Manchester's worker-bee emblem, regalia banners, heritage British design — and treating it as a foulard repeat on this deadstock silk is the version of that lineage that walks into a private view rather than onto a banner.
